Secret Milan: Local Guides By Local People - Book Review

Updated: Mar 11, 2023

Before traveling to Milan I came across the Secret Milan Guide Book. I was intrigued by what was different about the JonGlez travel guidebooks. Here's what I discovered.

Secret Milan: Local Guides By Local People - Book Review

To start with this was a guidebook like no other I had read. I was surprised by what It didn't include, there are no recommendations to eat, sleep or shop in this guidebook.

It contains an abundance of things to see but not the top 10 you would find on trip advisor. Discover the Mysterious Dragon Fountain and the possible links of panettone with Celtic Worship, where Mussolini's hidden bunker lies, the canal lock designed by Leonardo da Vinci as well as the secrets of his Last Supper.

The book covers central Milan, north-west, north-east, south-west, south-east, and outside the city centre. Each area is as in-depth as the last. All 341 pages are filled to the brim with hidden gems. There are also well-documented stories, photographs, and sketches.

I hadn't come across anything like it. It truly is a local guide by local people.

If like me you don't want to follow the crowds and discover a local perspective. Go off the beaten track with this incredible and informative travel guide - Secret Milan.
