Vietnam Adventure With Wowcher
Wowcher
Wowcher one of the UK's leading deal websites has been on the go for several years, with offers that make you want to say "WOW".
This was the case when we saw the adventure of a lifetime for 10 days to Vietnam. As with most trips I like to shop around and do some research to see what options are available. This doesn't just come down to cost but also the itinerary, dates, and flight availability if booked separately.
The deal page was very informative giving the name of the company - Go Asia Travel and a very good itinerary including accommodation, transfers, train travel, and some meals too! Everything for that first-time apprehensive traveler to those looking for a stress-free adventure.

Getting To And From Vietnam
We traveled with British Airways from Edinburgh connecting at London Heathrow Terminal 5 for the non-stop direct flight reaching Bangkok in under 12 hours. British Airways still offers the best value in World Traveller class including up to 23kg of checked-in luggage, meal, bar service, and an up-to-date in-flight entertainment system. From the 17th of January 2018 enjoy the new and expanded long-haul in-flight menu including Magnum ice cream.
After a short connection in Bangkok, time for our onward flight with Vietnam Airlines to the 2nd largest city in Vietnam - Hanoi. Did you know that as well as being the national flower of Vietnam, the beautiful Lotus Flower is the symbol for Vietnam Airlines? Each of the six petals represents the valued ethos and culture of both Vietnam and Vietnam Airlines.
On the return flight, we traveled with Oneworld codeshare partner Qatar Airlines from Ho Chi Minh City via Doha arriving early the following morning back in Edinburgh.

What To Wear
Before you start on your truly memorable adventure of a lifetime don't be tempted to pack too much, as you might like to do a little shopping. We traveled with one large backpack, a small carry-on rucksack, and a separate camera bag. This was the ideal combination, as you only need a small rucksack for the overnight stay on-board the Ha Long Bay cruise (you can leave the large backpack securely at the hotel and collect it upon return) and there is limited storage on the train from Hanoi to Da Nang. The weather can sometimes be changeable, so pack clothing for comfort and versatility. I love the range from Craghoppers Clothing.

10-Day Tour of Vietnam with Wowcher
Hanoi
The 2nd largest city in Vietnam is full of surprises with places of interest to visit including the Temple of Literature where Confucius once taught, to quaint Buddhist temples such as Ngoc Son Temple built in the 18th century. It is really easy to walk around the city, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy its many sights. While in Hanoi you might like to try the local beer - Hanoi.

Ha Long Bay
When you think of Vietnam you can imagine Ha Long Bay, with its dramatic and towering limestone islands. The world Heritage Site is a place of beauty with so much for today's travelers. Whether you are looking for scuba diving, walking or just enjoying a scenic cruise this is a stop not to be missed!
The tour includes a one-night cruise taking in the bay's pristine sights, kayaking, Oyster Farm, Surprise Cave, and a cooking class. Don't forget your camera!

Hoi An
Emerge yourself in the history, culture, food, and shopping in the Ancient town of Hoi An. It was one of our favourite stops (we loved the trip really). From Hoi An you can enjoy the day trip included in the tour, to My Son. The UNESCO World Heritage Site was constructed between the 4th - 14th century, with incredible red brick Hindu Temples, stone tablets in the ancient Sanskrit language, and much more.

Ho Chi Minh City
The largest city in Vietnam is unlike any of the others. Its high-rise contemporary buildings including one of the world's tallest buildings - Bitexco Financial Tower, is a hive of activity. Ho Chi Minh City also known as Saigon is steeped in history with the Cu Chi Tunnels, where you can walk in the footsteps of the Viet Cong Soldiers.
On your last day, you might like to relax on board the Ho Chi Minh City Tour Bus before taking the included transfer back to the airport for your return journey home.
