I love a good Christmas movie to watch during the holidays. We've all seen Home Alone, The Grinch, Elf, Santa Claus The Movie, Muppet Christmas Carol, The Holiday, The Polar Express, and even Die Hard! Here are a few others that you might not have heard of and some inspired and filmed in Scotland.

A teenager's (Rock) spruce tree has won a competition and is chosen to be planted at the White House, and his family must get it there in time for the ceremony. The boy and his father travel cross-county for this honour.

Tom, a cynical journalist, takes a train from Washington to Los Angeles to reach in time for Christmas. However, things take a turn when he runs into a former lover while aboard.
The Christmas Candle (2013)
Every 25 years, an angel visits a village to touch a candle, which is considered a miracle by the villagers. Things get complicated when a pastor wants to develop the place by bringing electricity there.

Christmas In The Highlands (2019)
Christmas In The Highlands was mostly filmed at Glamis Castle, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. It is also here where the second daughter of King George VI & Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (Princess Margaret) was born.
Blair, a sales manager from New York, is sent to a remote area in the Scottish Highlands to get hold of a special perfume.

Merry Scottish Christmas (2023)
A Merry Scottish Christmas” follows estranged siblings Linsay (Lacey Chabert) and Brad (Scott Wolf) travel to Scotland and reunite with their mother Jo, and a big family secret is revealed.
Filmed at the Duns Castle Estate located in the Scottish Borders. Models as the fictional Glencrave Castle, which dates back to the 14th century. The former Norman keep was transformed between 1818 and 1822 into the magnificent Neo-Gothic house seen in the movie.
Castle For Christmas (2021)
To escape a scandal, a bestselling American author Sophie (Brooke Shields) journeys to Scotland, where she falls in love with a castle but is met with Myles (Cary Elwes) the grumpy duke who owns it.
Dalmeny House, a Gothic Revival mansion to the north-west of Edinburgh, was used as the location for the film's Dun Dunbar Castle. Other filming locations include Tantallon Castle, South Queensferry, and the village of Culross in Fife was used to portray the village of Dunbar.
Christmas In Scotland (2023)
The latest Scottish Christmas movie to be filmed earlier this year (2023) in Culross, Limeklins and Crieff stars Jill Winternitz. While on a trip to Scotland, the New York installation designer finds herself helping a small rural community create a festive light display to compete for the Best Christmas Village. However, not everything runs smoothly and she finds herself up against the handsome Laird.
